Joel joined Hertz Appraisal Services in July 2006 working out of the Strawberry Point office. He has been involved with appraising residential, agricultural, and commercial properties since 2001. In addition, he holds his Iowa real estate license and evaluates and markets agricultural real estate throughout northeast Iowa.
Joel is a Certified General Real Property Appraiser and is a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
Joel grew up on a grain and livestock farm in southwest Iowa near Adair. He attended Iowa State University, obtaining a degree in Farm Operations in 1974. He served in the military for two years. Joel has farmed and been in ag business occupations including being a farm manager in Strawberry Point from 1994-1998. He and his wife, Nancy, live on an acreage near Arlington, Iowa. They have three sons and seven grandchildren.
Mike is the regional manager for Hertz Farm Management where he has the professional responsibilities of farm management, real estate sales, consulting, crop insurance, business development and administration. Following his tour at Texas Christian University, he was an Extension Agent in Lancaster County, Nebraska. Mike then worked for Krause Cattle Company where he progressed to the position of Feedlot Manager and Cow/Calf Manager. He was responsible for cattle sales and management decisions for a 700- head cow/calf operation as well as a 5,000-head feedlot. He also supervised and directed corn and alfalfa harvest crews, and developed media publicity.
Maintaining an active role, holding various elected offices in the professional farm organizations, Mike participates in the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, Omaha Agri-business Club, Nebraska Ag Relations Council, Omaha Morning Rotary Club, Breakfast Optimist Club of Omaha and in the Scottish Rite Masonry where he was chairman of the Demolay Advisory Committee.
Mike and his wife, along with their two daughters, reside in Omaha. During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, snow skiing, hunting, and woodworking.
Stan has been with Hertz Farm Management since 1999 as a farm manager, real estate agent and consultant. He takes a great deal of pride in working with his clients.
Stan grew up on a grain and livestock farm in northeast Kansas. During high school, he participated in football and held offices in FFA, achieving the “State Farmer” degree. Stan was a member of the Ag Econ Club at Kansas State University, where he graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics.
Prior to joining Hertz in 1999, Stan worked with the ConAgra Flour Milling Company for 14 years. There, he honed his leadership and management skills, gaining valuable experience in commodity merchandising, grain procurement, and plant production scheduling. Additionally, he was a flour mill plant manager for eight years in Nebraska and Pennsylvania.
An active member of the agricultural community, Stan belongs to the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
Stan and his wife, Deb, have a daughter, Samantha and twins Allison and Adam. Stan enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and college football.
Kurt joined Hertz Farm Management in July 2008 as Vice President of Corporate Marketing. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993, and has spent his career working in advertising and marketing with a wide variety of companies across the country.
Kurt grew up in eastern Iowa and spent much of his childhood on his grandparents' farms in north-central Iowa. He is a member of the National AgriMarketing Association, American Marketing Association and is active in his local Rotary Club. In his efforts to continually understand the needs of the industry, Kurt regularly attends numerous agriculture outlook seminars and classes.
Kurt and his family reside in Bettendorf, IA.
Troy joined the Mount Vernon office of Hertz Farm Management in November 1999. Troy is an active member of several organizations, including the Iowa and National Association of REALTORS®, and the Iowa and National REALTORS® Land Institute, where he served as the 2005-2006 State President. Troy currently serves as the RLI Iowa Chapter Treasurer. He is also a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Boards of Realtors. In 2005, Troy earned the Accredited Land Consultant Designation from the Realtors Land Institute.
Prior to joining Hertz, Troy served as an Agricultural Loan Officer at Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank in Manchester, Iowa for nearly six years. Troy grew up on a livestock farm in northwest Iowa. His history of agricultural leadership includes the Iowa FFA degree and active participation in 4-H. He has served on numerous committees of St. John’s Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. Troy and his wife Tracey have four children.
Brian joined Hertz Farm Management in November 2012, working out of the company's Monticello, IL, office. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2000 and spent the prior 10 years working as a Trust Officer and Farm Manager for a bank in Farmer City, IL. His banking and trust experience will be a valuable asset to his clients.
Brian grew up in central Illinois on his family's grain farm, located near Maroa, IL. Brian lives in rural DeWitt county just outside Clinton with his wife, Kristie, and son, Owen.
Julie joined Hertz Farm Management in January 2005. She grew up in NE Iowa on the family farm, which she now operates with her husband, David. She graduated from Central Community School in Elkader and attended NICC in Calmar, and is a licensed Real Estate Sales Person. Julie and her husband live outside Volga and have 3 daughters.
Brian Olson joined the Humboldt, Iowa office of Hertz Farm Management in May 2012. Earlier that month, Brian graduated from Iowa State University with a major in Agricultural Business and a minor in Agronomy. Brian has work experience at Ag Advisory, Ltd. in Algona, Iowa, and NEW Cooperative in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
He is an Accredited Farm Manager with the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers where he continues to attend farm management courses and seminars.
He manages, sells, and acquires farm properties for landowner clients in Northwest Iowa, Southeast South Dakota, and Southwest Minnesota.
Brian comes from a family farming operation near Bode, Iowa. Brian and his wife, Anna, and son, Jackson, live in Humboldt.
Dick has been with Hertz Farm Management since 1985, managing farms throughout Central Iowa. He assists his clients in marketing and acquiring properties as a licensed real estate salesperson.
As a member of the ASFMRA, Dick has served on several committees at the state and national level, which shows his commitment and loyalty to farm management.
Dick grew up in North Central Iowa on a grain and livestock farm. He is married with two adult children and is a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, IA.
