Professional Farm Manager Internship

Description

We are looking for high performing individuals for our 2025 summer internship program. Candidates should be a sophomore or junior majoring in an Agriculture related discipline with above average academic performance, excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an interest in the career field of Professional Farm Management.

The internship focuses on learning the skills and responsibilities of a Professional Farm Manager. A Professional Farm Manager represents individuals, families, and entities that own farmland but do not farm themselves. They help Farmland Owners make confident and informed decisions so they can achieve their ownership goals, financially, emotionally, and relationally.

The individuals selected will get the opportunity to learn about each of our client service divisions: Farm Management, Real Estate, and Appraisal by interacting with our knowledgeable staff and visiting several of our offices.

 

 Internship Details

Learn and become knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • Details on lease analysis, negotiation, and tenant selection
  • Income and expense budgets, cashflow and profitability analysis
  • The process of agricultural real estate transactions and appraisals
  • Technical farm management cropping plans
  • Grain marketing and the use of different grain sales tools/strategies
  • Risk management related to Crop and P&C Insurance
  • Client interaction and service
  • Land stewardship with a focus on improvement/conservation
  • Budget analysis and long-term financial asset planning

Requirements

  • Ag background beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Thorough commitment to customer service, internally and externally
  • Sophomore or Junior majoring in Agriculture
